Wallabies coach puts players to shame at the squat rack

Having teammates stronger than you must be annoying for players, but it is something that most must get used to. Having a coach that is stronger than you is a different matter completely.

Unfortunately for the Australia squad, they had to witness scrum coach Petrus du Plessis squat 320kg right in front of them, which must be pretty soul destroying. He was of course a Heineken Champions Cup winning tighthead, so he is obviously going to be strong, but there won’t be many people, if any, in the Wallabies set up that could match those numbers at the squat rack.

Then again, these were not full range squats, rather ‘scrum range squats’ as he described on Twitter, “to get used to spinal loading and enhance neuromuscular tolerance.” That does mean that there are potentially some players in the squad that could squat the same. Nevertheless, it is mightily impressive.
