WATCH: Springbok legend chases and catches shoplifter
After a couple of days of photos being shared of an incident involving former Springboks captain Jean de Villiers and a shoplifter, CCTV footage of the entire ordeal has found its way online this week.
The former South Africa centre was seen chasing a shoplifter in Paarl this week, and photos and short clips have gone viral. But a more extensive clip of the chase has now found its way online.
This is what de Villiers wrote on Instagram:
“So I caught a shoplifter the other day. Through this process sprinted (past a long cue at Home Affairs) for the first time in 7 years and managed not to injure myself (or the thief!) as I normally use to do on the rugby field! I made the front page of the newspapers again along with radio interviews etc but the soundbite from a local who saw it all play out is priceless!!
It’s in Afrikaans unfortunately but the guy reckons I must come out of retirement . What you think? It is World Cup year??”
