WATCH: Tackling optional as uncapped Fijian goes untouched in solo try

Not many players can run through the middle of the field and still managed to go untouched, but the Chiefs’ Emoni Narawa achieved just that against the Highlanders on Friday.

In a counter attacking masterclass spearheaded by Shaun Stevenson and Damian McKenzie, the Fijian received the ball on his ten metre line in the middle of the field with a fairly hotchpotch defence in front of him. What came next was still unexpected. With tacklers arriving from every angle, the 23-year-old was able to weave in and out and avoid all defenders without one laying a single finger on him. OK, he may have been brushed by one, but nothing more as he scored one of the solo efforts of the season.

This was all part of a convincing 52-28 win at the Forsyth Barr Stadium, which extended the Chiefs’ unbeaten season to ten matches and opened up a twelve point lead at the top of the Super Rugby Pacific table.
