Junior Bok uses all of his 153kg frame to pulverise flanker
A good rule to follow in rugby is to never run into a player that weighs over 150kg- it rarely ends well for you. But when that 150kg+ player is charging out the line to hit you, there isn’t much you can do but close your eyes and hope you wake from a nightmare.
Sharks flanker James Venter was in that position at the weekend after receiving the ball from behind his own try line in the South African derby against the Lions. In that situation, there is usually very little space with the tail of the lineout just metres away and charging at you. One of those players at the weekend was was the Lions’ 153kg tighthead Asenathi Ntlabakanye, who made up the tail, middle and even a bit of the front of the lineout.
After cutting back towards the lineout, Venter was met by Ntlabakanye, who threw all of his weight into the tackle and came close to driving the flanker back over his try line.
Trying to run around a unit line Ntlabakanye is a five minute excursion, so when Venter saw the 23-year-old haring at him as if he had just been shot out of a cannon, he would have known that there was no escape.
