Ireland prop ready to annihilate Springbok pack with quads of steel
If you want to beat South Africa, you can either turn up with a strong scrum or hope for a miracle. Fortunately for Andy Farrell, he is prepared for when his side take on the world champions in the pool stages of the World Cup in September.
Farrell is equipped with some behemoths in the front row who can easily go toe-to-toe with the formidable Springbok front row. The propping combination of Andrew Porter and Tadhg Furlong is enough to make the Boks sit up and take notice, and after the former’s work at the squat rack in camp, they will be on red alert.
The video showed the 27-year-old comfortably squatting 200kg for reps. That is impressive, but not necessarily for a Test prop. However, he was squatting with bands as well, which could have added about 60kg to the squat. Suddenly it becomes slightly more beastly.
