Owen Farrell all but confirms GOAT status with prop-like strength in gym

With the debate raging across England as to whether England captain Owen Farrell is going to start at inside centre again, start at fly-half or even be benched against Italy this Sunday, he let out any pent up nerves and frustration in the gym this week.

England shared a video of the Saracens star dumbbell pressing 60kg in each hand for reps this week, which is quite an achievement for a 94kg player. Inevitably, the comments online largely revolve around his tackle technique and the fact that he is using his arms on this occasion.

This comes just days after Farrell’s England side lost to Scotland at Twickenham, where he had a run-in with Finn Russell. Well it was more like Russell literally running into him off the ball while Duhan van der Merwe scored his iconic try. The Scot has revealed he did it under the belief that Farrell had mocked him after a tackle where he lost the ball, although he later found out that it was not the England captain. Russell might have had the last laugh on the pitch, but his dumbbell pressing game is definitely nowhere near Farrell’s.
