The Codie Taylor moment that is sending the internet into overdrive
This morning saw the start of Super Rugby Aoteroa for the 2021 season with the Highlanders playing host to the Crusaders at Forsythe Bar Stadium.
The much-anticipated clash had fans from all over the world tuning in with rugby supporters in the Northern Hemisphere rising in the early hours to get a glimpse of New Zealand’s best in action.
There was a moment in the first half that stunned fans, sending social media into a frenzy.
We see as just in the 12th minute of play, the ball falls to the All Blacks hooker, Codie Taylor, who is 46m out from the opposition try line when the ball falls to him.
What followed was truly stunning.

Fans were raving over the incredible pace of the 29-year-old as he raced away to the Highlanders try-line despite being chased by Aaron Smith.

The Highlanders didn’t go down without a fight though and bit back with this score at the end of the first half.

The Crusaders ran out as eventual 13-26 winners after a well-taken second-half try from Sevu reece.
Tomorrow the Hurricanes will host the Blues in Wellington in the second clash of this year’s Super Rugby Aotearoa.
