The terrifying two minutes of rugby which made Eddie Jones select Alfie Barbeary for England

England rugby has announced their 33-man squad for France this weekend and there is a new hooker who has been selected. His name is Alfie Barbeary and he is just 20-years-old.

Rugby Onslaught will look at why this player has been suddenly selected to play for the England team and we will show you the 2 minutes of rugby which influenced his decision.

Barbeary has made a name for himself as one of the most explosive young players in the country. He has been brilliant for Wasps this season, helping the team in the early part of their 2020/2021 campaign.

England is currently blessed to have a World Class hooker in the form of Jamie George, but Alfie Barbeary brings something far more exciting in his game, power!

A highlight reel emerged in 2018 showing just how destructive this player can be.

He played in the centre for his school before he made the transition to the front row. If you look at his speed it makes you wonder why he wasn’t kept in the backline.

There is clearly a lot to be excited about with this youngster, if anyone has seen his form in recent games for Wasps, then you know exactly why he has been handpicked by Eddie Jones to play for the men in white against France this weekend.

Some have been speaking about the incredible impact that Alfie Barbeary made in the Gallagher Premiership against Bristol Bears last week.

To have an impact like this straight away, surely this was why he was selected to play in the Autumn Nations Cup.

In this clip, it shows the 2 minutes of play where he managed to make a turnover and break all in the space of eighty seconds!
