WATCH – Concerns for Kiwi fullback after sickening clash in this morning’s Mitre 10 Cup clash
Fans were concerned for the welfare of Otago fullback and captain, Michael Collins, after a sickening collision in the Mitre 10 Cup earlier today.
His side were up against Northland in a crunch semi-final in the New Zealand tournament.
The shocking hit came in the lead up to a stunning try by Northland winger, Jone Macilai who danced his way around hapless covering defenders on the way to the game’s opening score.
We see as just eight minutes into the clash in Dunedin – Northland are already on the attack in a frenetic knockout encounter.
The finishing on this score from Macilai is sensational – but we can’t ignore the pure class on show from the double miss-pass that opened up space for the winger out wide.
We watch as Macilai eats up the yards as he steams into the opposition 22 before bumping off Michael Collins like a rag doll.
This truly was sickening! Watch the Mitre 10 Cup moment below

The match went right down to the wire with the sides exchanging scores in a lively sem-final in Dundedin.
Otago fly-half Josh Ioane did brilliantly to set up this try for Otago as they looked to fight their way back into the game in the final quarter of the match.
😮 Don’t go ANYWHERE! This semifinal is going down to the wire.

Earlier in the day it looked like Northland had let the game (and the ball go) after this shocker in the 51st minute of play.

Luckily for them they were able to overpower Otago to take a 19-32 win in Dunedin.
